| Hohe Düne and Markgrafenheide are adjacent coastal districts of Rostock, and the continuous beach that spans the districts is over 5 kilometers long. The consecutively numbered beach accesses range from 2 to 34, with the numbers ascending going east and north from a marina at the far eastern end of the beach. Strand Hohe Düne extends from the marina to access 13. Strand Markgrafenheide begins at access 13 and extends beyond access 34, blending into a remote stretch of coastline that belongs to districts of Rostock that are virtually depopulated. A long stretch of beach between accesses 4 and 23 is signed as FKK, while a comparatively short stretch of beach between accesses 32 and 34 is also signed as FKK. Starting at access 34, the remote area to the northeast is designated as a swimwear-optional zone, signed FKK+Textil. In reality, lots of textiles frequent parts of the beach signed as FKK. The 4-23 and 32-34 areas are de facto swimwear-optional zones despite signage that implies that nudity is expected. | |||
